Discussions: Instructions

Getting to Topics and Messages

1. Go to the CTSNet Discussions page by clicking on the Discussions link in the left navigation bar of the CTSNet Home Page.
2. Within a Discussion Forum, select a Category you wish to review. This will take you to the Category Page that lists the topics (threads) for that Category.
3. Select a topic (thread) and read the messages (postings).

Adding a Message to an Ongoing Topic (Thread)

1. Select the Category of interest.
2. Within the Category Page, select the topic (thread) you wish to review.
3. Review the messages posted for that topic (thread).
4. To reply to a specific message, click the Reply button.
5. You may see a login screen if you had not yet logged in to the discussion forum. If the login screen appears, enter your User ID and Password and press the Enter key.
6. Enter the Message Text.
7. You may preview your message before posting.
8. When you are satisfied with the text, click on the Reply to Thread button to post your message. Your message will appear in the list of messages for the Topic you selected.
9. Note: you may quote the original message when you post your reply by selecting Quote rather then Reply when you post your message.
10. Note: If you wish to receive email notification whenever someone replies to your message, check the Subscribe to this Thread box at the bottom of the form.

Adding a New Topic (Thread) to a Category

1. You may start a new topic (thread) in the Category page, while reviewing the existing topics, or within a Topic Page, while reviewing posted messages.
2. Click on the New Topic button.
3. You may see a login screen if you had not yet logged in to the discussion forum. If the login screen appears, enter your User ID and Password and press the Enter key.
4. Enter the Message Title. This is really the title of the topic that appears in the list of topics (threads) for the Category
5. Enter the Message Text. This message will launch the New Topic (Thread) and will be the first message posted.
6. You may preview your message before posting.
7. When you are satisfied with the message text, click on the Post Message to launch the New Topic and the first message.
8. Note: If you wish to receive email notification whenever someone replies to your message, check the Subscribe to this Thread box at the bottom of the form.

Subscribing to a Topic (Thread)

1. You may subscribe to a thread if you would like to be notified by email when someone posts a reply to your message.
2. Simply check the Subscribe to this Thread box that appears on the form whenever you post a message or start a new topic (thread).
